The Datatool is eight tools in one - a data monitor, data trap, bit and block error rate tester, device exerciser, device simulator, breakout box, and pulse-level voltmeter. It automatically configures to the baud rate and character structure of asynchronous serial bit stream signals. Smart menus guide you through the easy set-up process. Test setups can be stored in the device's non-volatile memory for future use. The Datatool is the economical alternative to carrying a collection of single function instruments.
The Datatool 5500 offers the expanded capability to handle SDLC links, in addition to the serial and paralled capabilities common to both models. It offers dual line trapping or monitoring, allowing both transmitted and received data to be analyzed simultaneously. In addition, it detects power drop-outs during BERT tests, stores test data in process, and has an expanded message buffer that can be directly output to an external printer. The Datatool 5500 comes comlpete with necessary cables, test probes, detachable in line power supply, instruction manual and carrying case.
